David brings more than 20 years of experience to Environment New York.  His roots are in the field ecology and advocacy work to defend the environment.  He has restored forests systems that require fire to persist, done research 130 miles north of the Arctic Circle, and mapped significant ecosystems across Cape Cod.  He has also worked with foresters to protect rare species during timber harvests, navigated the political bureaucracies of New Hampshire and New York, and built strong coalitions to fight global warming in New York’s Hudson Valley.  David has a B.A. from Middlebury College where he completed a double major in arctic/alpine ecology and religion.  He also has a joint M.S. from Tufts University in ecology and urban/environmental policy.
